Silver Newgrange Spiral Ring
This silver Newgrange spiral ring is inspired by the megalithic art work at Newgrange (Brú na Bóinne in Gaelic), a Neolithic passage tomb built with precise astronomical alignment to the sun, built over 5000 years ago. The art is one of the most remarkable features of the Newgrange monument. Some of it is a spectacular combination of spirals, lozenges, chevrons, triangles and arrangements of parallel lines and arcs.
There are many theories as to the meaning of the carvings; the most popular representing the cycles of the sun
The single spiral, believed to represent the sun.
The double spiral representing the sun’s journey over the course of the year.
The Triskele is believed to represent the unity of the elements of earth; air, fire and water.
The silver Newgrange spiral ring is a heavyweight design suitable for men and women. It is a unique design, handmade in my workshop in Dublin, Ireland. The double spiral is finished to a high polish, in contrast to the background which has a dull textured finish.
The ring bears the full Irish hallmark from the Irish Assay Office in Dublin Castle and stamped “Made in Ireland”.
