Silver Celtic Lunula Necklace
The Lunula is probably one of the lesser known Irish designs but are amongst the the first gold jewelry to be made in Ireland. Dating as far back as 2000 B.C., similar to the torc these pieces were worn as a neck collar. The inspiration for this silver Celtic Lunula necklace comes from these magnificent artefacts.
The word lunula comes from the Latin for ‘little moon’ named from the crescent moon shape of the design. This pendant is a contemporary twist on the traditional Lunula design, making it a little more practical to wear for everyday modern life.
This Sterling silver Celtic Lunula necklace is handmade in my workshop in Dublin, Ireland. The Lunula has a domed profile with a frosted/ matte finish and hangs from a heavyweight split belcher chain.
Hallmarked in the Irish assay office in Dublin castle and stamped ‘Made in Ireland’.
